Leupold - Riflescopes, Optics & Binoculars

Founded in 1907 by German immigrant Fred Leupold and his brother-in-law Adam Voelpel, Leupold & Stevens began as a survey equipment repair company. Evolving over the years, the company, after teaming up with J.C. Stevens, started manufacturing innovative water level recorders and other devices. In 1942, the company expanded into the optics market, notably producing rifle scopes under the "Leupold" brand and water monitoring instruments under the "Stevens" name. Post-World War II, they innovated in gun scopes, creating popular products like the Duplex Reticle. Alongside these developments, Leupold & Stevens engaged in various ventures, including Nosler Bullets and Biamp Systems. By 1996, the company hit $100 million in sales. Later, they spun off their water monitoring segment while maintaining the Stevens brand. As of the late 2000s, Leupold & Stevens continued to grow, acquiring Redfield Optics and expanding their workforce, with a revenue reaching approximately $160 million. Under the leadership of CEO Bruce Pettet since 2014, Leupold has been recognized as a top scope manufacturer in NRA competitions, showcasing its enduring legacy and innovation in the optics and surveying industries.
