Description

Everything is done by this Kestrel meter.

Similar to the original Kestrel 4500, the Kestrel 5500 weather meter offers dependable accuracy, dependability, and convenience.

The Kestrel 5500 also features an integrated digital compass. This enables you to monitor and record wind speed and direction. Cardinal compass points and degrees of wind direction are shown.

For those who need to understand the effects of crosswind, headwind, and tailwind—such as paragliders, flying enthusiasts, and kiteboarders—the Kestrel 5500 is now the mandatory model for HAZMAT workers, flight crews, and military personnel.

When sensing wind speed, the Kestrel 5500 will automatically calculate crosswind, headwind, and tailwind by specifying a reference target or runway heading. Additionally, the digital compass can be utilized to show the forward heading in relation to true or magnetic north.

In addition, the Kestrel 5500 logs and calculates more than 10,000 time-stamped data sets.

The Kestrel 5500 comes in two versions:

STANDARD VERSION
The K5000 USB Data Transfer Cable, which is supplied separately, can be used to transfer data from the basic Kestrel 5500 to a Windows or Mac device.

You may see, store, and download all of the data in CSV format using the free Kestrel LiNK App.
LiNK VERSION
If you have the right Kestrel LiNK App and are within range of an iOS (iPhone, iPad) or Android smartphone or tablet, you can wirelessly transfer data utilizing the Kestrel 5500 LiNK version's Bluetooth interface.
With the optional Kestrel Bluetooth USB Dongle (separately supplied), you can now wirelessly transfer files to a Windows or Mac computer. Up to 100 feet distant (line of sight), data can be seen in real-time on the app.
The large wind vane and precision pivot keep the Kestrel oriented into the wind for continuous measurement and logging of all the key environmental parameters at the precise location required. When paired with the Kestrel Vane Mount and Kestrel Tripod, the Kestrel 5500 becomes a stand-alone weather station.
The Kestrel 5500 is made to survive the rough handling that it will encounter from building sites, farms, or HVAC engineers. It is Mil-SPEC-810G drop-tested and has an IP67 waterproof rating. A certificate of conformance and a five-year warranty are included with the item as standard.

Use it for shooting, sailing, flying, golfing, and more. Your Kestrel weather meter is waterproof, dust-proof, drop-proof, and resistant to harsh temperatures without breaking. It can go wherever you dare.

Combined with the Kestrel Vane Mount, the Kestrel 5500's entire adaptability is shown. The Kestrel 5500 may be safely mounted to any tripod or other ¼-20 fitting bracket with this well-engineered add-on. The Kestrel 5500 is a fully functional weather station once it is mounted.

Taking your Kestrel meter with you is made even simpler with a variety of carry bag options.

A five-year warranty, an instruction manual, a Certificate of Conformity with full specifications, an AA lithium battery with an average life of 400 hours, and a protective drawstring pouch are all included.

Kestrel LiNK for mobile

Android and iOS apps put crucial information at your fingertips with real-time remote data viewing on phones and tablets up to 100’ away. Kestrel LiNK also provides easy data export, threshold alerts, and simple firmware updates.

LiNK wireless connectivity powered by Bluetooth Smart

Strong, simple connection to Mac and Windows PCs, as well as iOS and Android mobile devices. (Optional Kestrel USB Dongle required for computers.)

USB Data Transfer Cable

Wired access to Windows and Mac computers is made possible by a low-profile, lightweight, waterproof cable that allows for quick firmware changes and data uploads.

Sleek, rugged tripod vane mount

Any Kestrel 5 Series meter may be converted into a portable weather station that is always pointed toward the wind using a small, sturdy, and secure vane attachment. (Where indicated, included in certain models; otherwise, sold as an extra accessory.)

Large, high-contrast screen

Easily readable language with constant access to more visible information on the screen in nearly all conditions, even direct sunshine. You may obtain more information from the customizable user panels, charting, and graphing choices on this eye-friendly high-resolution display.

Dual color backlight

Change the backlight's color from normal white to red (NV), which preserves night vision. The red NV backlight has a lower brightness to prevent detection during night maneuvers and an optical wavelength chosen to support users in maintaining their natural night vision.

Secure battery door

Battery access is simple and tool-free thanks to the large, O-ring sealed door.

Scratch and breakage-resistant window

Scratch-resistant polycarbonate lens that is rigid shields the display from harm.

Corrosion-resistant battery compartment

In the case of a battery leak, harm is minimized because the battery is separated from the electronics.

Intuitive user interface

The Kestrel's easy keypad, icon-based navigation, and support for several languages make it a pleasure to use.
